Condo scaffolding collapse kills two Myanmar workers

THE SUDDEN collapse of a section of the scaffolding at a high-rise condominium being built in Chonburi province led to two Myanmar workers dying on the spot and two other being injured, one seriously, INN News reported today (August 16, 2020).

Pol.  Capt. Suchart Charoensri, an investigator at Sansuk police station in this province, rushed to the scene of the accident together with a doctor from Burapha Hospital and rescuers from Thammarasmee Maneerat Foundation.

On the ground level of the site where the 42-storey condominium is being built lay two Myanmar workers in pools of blood while two other Myanmar workers were rushed to the Burapha Hospital, one in serious condition.

Eyewitnesses said the workers were carrying construction material to the seventh floor when that part of the scaffolding either broke or shifted leading to the workers plunging down.

Workers also told police that there had been another accident at this construction site a few years ago.

Police have called the foreman, management of the construction company, and the owner of this condo building for questioning because this is the second time an accident has occurred at this site.
