Face mask rule partially eased in Phuket

PHUKET authorities announced the conditional easing of the mandatory face mask rule effective yesterday June 1, 2022 until any possible change, Sanook.com said this morning (June 2).

Under the new guideline tourists and residents at this popular island destination need not wear face masks in these circumstances:

1) While eating or drinking;

2) When verifying their identity to government officials;

3) While exercising in the open air with good ventilation;

4) When on the beach, park or sports field but having to keep two-metre distance from other people.

Meanwhile the Public Health Ministry said this morning there were 2,560 Covid cases, with two being foreigners, and 34 deaths over the past 24 hours and this taking the cumulative confirmed total since Jan. 1 to 2,234,145 and since the start of the pandemic 4,447,580.

Today’s 34 fatalities raised the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 30,081 and since Jan 1 8,383.

Another 5,605 patients were cured taking total recoveries since Jan. 1 to 2,222,813 with 36,192 still under treatment.
