THE DISTRIBUTION OF a song by the Thai music group Rap Against Dictatorship (R.A.D.) entitled “Patiroop” (Reform) has been halted by the order of the Criminal Court, the music group said in a Facebook post today (July 9).
The lyrics of this song criticises the government’s performance while supporting the demands of the people calling for reform.
Action against this song started with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society suspending the posting of this music video’s URL and then appealing to the court to halt its distribution.
R.A.D. said the court stated that profanity was used in the song and its lyrics conveys a message that affects state security.
However R.A.D. was outraged at the court saying that this song “is not a creative contribution to society.”
Two laws were cited to halt this song’s distribution of namely Computer Crimes Act Section 14 (3) in conjunction with Section 20.
This song by R.A.D has now been blocked on YouTube and cannot be viewed in Thailand.
