AN ARMY UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter today (July 15) crashlanded at a rubber plantation in Songkhla, injuring seven soldiers aboard, including an army general.
The Sikorsky utility helicopter developed an engine trouble after it had taken off from Hat Yai for about 15 minutes, prompting the UH-60 pilot to look for emergency landing on an open ground in Tepa district of the southern province, according to Maj. Gen. Pramot Phrom-in, deputy commander of the Fourth Army Region’s Internal Security Operations Command.
But the Black Hawk immediately crashlanded at the rubber plantation, slightly injuring most of the seven army soldiers aboard.
Among the injured who were rushed to hospital was Fourth Army Region commander Lt. Gen. Kriangkrai Srirak, Maj. Gen. Pramot said.
The UH-60 helicopter was returning to Sirindhorn army base in Yala after a mission in Hat Yai about 130 kilometres to the north had been finished, he said.
