Over 524,000 Thais worldwide give thumbs down to Prayut, all censured ministers

OVER 524,000 Thai people worldwide have cast “no-confidence” votes against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and 10 other cabinet members who have barely survived a censure/no-confidence motion at parliament today (July 23).

According to “The Voice of the People” polling project coordinator/Thammasat University vice rector Prinya Thaewanarumitkul, a total of 524,806 Thais, 511,807 of whom were reported in Thailand, have cast their votes via the project’s cellphone app during 6.00 p.m. yesterday and 11.00 a.m. today.

The other Thais who had joined in the popular vote against Prayut and the others were reported in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Australia.

Remarkably, 97% of the 524,806 votes says “no-confidence” in Prayut whilst a mere 3% says “confidence” in the coup leader-turned-premier.

That compared to 256 votes of confidence against 206 votes of no confidence and nine abstentions cast on Prayut by the MPs today following a four-day censure debate.

The 10 other cabinet members who had barely survived the censure/no-confidence motion at parliament were also given “no-confidence” votes by 96% or 97% of the people who participated in the polling project, according to the project coordinator.
