Thaksin: Don’t cremate my dead body, let the battle be immortalized

ON HIS 73rd birthday today (July 26) former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra release a 14-minute video clip on his Thaksin Official YouTube channel where he said he does not want his body to be cremated when he dies wishing for his struggle to be immortalized for his children and grandchildren, Sanook.com said.

At one point in the clip Thaksin said it could be he was dumb about handling people because his experience was in the country but upon coming to Bangkok life took a big leap forward.

“This is what I had to learn but I am not thinking of learning anything more as I am now old, I just want to use my academic knowledge to teach, educate my children and grandchildren.

“I am not hurt but regret not being of more use to the country,” he said.

Thaksin also mentioned that he was not afraid to die having gone through four assassination attempts. “I am  indifferent, I believe that if a person has to, he dies, and if he is not dead, he is not so.”

Asked whether he had forgiven the perpetrators, Thaksin replied that he does not know why but he does not believe in last life and next life so does not know what karma has in store.

He added that everyone in the family knew who were behind the assassination attempts because he did not want them to run into ill-intentioned people and if they did, to be careful.

There is nothing much these days, he said, pointing out that he is living overseas and cannot return to the country yet there are people who love him. Also when he thinks of his children he hoped they would not have to suffer the way he has done.

Asked what he saw when he looked in the mirror, Thaksin replied that he saw Khunying Potjaman Damapong (his ex-wife).

“I pity Khunying, I decided to return to Thailand because she has carried a heavy burden, carried burden on my behalf,” he said.

Asked whether he expected his grandchildren to fight and lead the country, Thaksin immediately denied doing so, mentioning that they could think for themselves.

However he added that he would like to be with them, love and take care of them, give them encouragement just like having a grandfather with them all the time.
