A DECISION was taken at the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) executive committee meeting today (Sept. 23) presided over by caretaker Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan to revoke the state of emergency decree from Oct. 1 and in doing so disbanding itself thenceforth, Matichon newspaper said this afternoon.
Dr. Udom Kachintorn, adviser to CCSA, said prior to the meeting that from Oct. 1 it will no longer be necessary to check vaccination certificates and antigen test results.
However people still have to take care of themselves because it is estimated that it will be around a year before Covid-19 could be downgraded to an endemic disease on the same level as common cold.
Currently those who have received three jabs do not get seriously ill nor die but only 30-40% of the population have received booster shots and this has to be accelerated to 70% or more, he added.
