DEPUTY Prime Minister-cum-Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said today (Oct. 20) that one of five bills the National Communicable Diseases Committee approved abolishes fines for not wearing a face mask, TV Channel 7 said.
Approved was the drafting of a National Communicable Disease Committee regulation repealing fines for failure to comply with Section 34 (6) which mandates the wearing of a face mask.
According to this regulation those caught not wearing a surgical or cloth face mask will be fined not more than 1,000 baht the first time, over 1,000 baht but not more than 10,000 baht the second time, and from 10,000 to 20,000 baht three or more times.
Also approved were the following bills:
– Draft an action plan for surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases or epidemics during 2023-2027 according to the Communicable Disease Act B.E. 2558. This is to ensure Thailand has an efficient framework in place. Regarding Bangkok five strategies will proposed to the Cabinet for approval;
– Draft a ministerial regulation on payment of compensation for damages incurred through surveillance, prevention and control under Communicable Disease Act B.E. 2558;
– Draft a ministerial regulation on disbursement of compensation to officials who carried out duties on surveillance, disease investigation, prevention or control under Communicable Disease Act B.E. 2558;
– Draft a ministerial regulation on reimbursing expenses incurred by officials who carried out duties for those who neglected to do so under Communicable Disease Act B.E. 2558.
