Israeli man with ammunition, magazine in suitcase held at Phuket airport

 

POLICE and security guards at Phuket International Airport arrested an Israeli man after 55 rifle bullets and a magazine were found in his suitcase just as he was preparing to board a plane to Bangkok, Naewna newspaper said today (Oct. 29).

Phuketandamannews Facebook page said the Israeli man, Mr. Karn Chamun Farjun (name translated as written in Thai), 29, was arrested on Thursday Oct. 27. He has admitted that all the items in the suitcase belonged to him including the fifty-five 5.56mm bullets and a magazine which were discovered after the bag was X-rayed.

He was charged with possessing firearms and ammunition for which the registrar cannot issue a licence and taken to Saku police station for further legal action.

Investigation revealed that the suspect had previously visited Thailand during Nov. 13-29, 2018 and stayed at a hotel in the Bophut area of Koh Samui.
